LAMBAYE LEARNING CENTER

The location of the Lambaye Learning center is an isolated rural village in central Senegal. Once a bustling farming village and a region of tribal kings, desertification has made supportive farming impossible to sustain. The addition of a new school for job training — specifically geared toward the women in the village, but open to all — will create new economic opportunities for the families and surrounding villages.

The project came about through the dedication of Amary Seck, a chemistry professor in Mamaroneck NY, who grew up in Lambaye. Fundraising, limitless joy and organization efforts were provided by the Students for Senegal.
